Today I made a long, quiet drive to the National Cemetery in Riverside, Ca. to say good bye to a friend who left us last Friday for a better place. His name was Miguel Contreras, he was a veteran who served his country with Dignity, Integrity and Dedication.
Miguel was an Amazing young man who left us too soon, he was the definition of someone who was unstoppable and was an inspiration to me. When I was working to get medical coverage at the VA, Miguel was my guide to the facility. He was an enormous help to me as he ran me around the hospital introducing me to so many people as we walked the halls.
One thing I can say is that he always had a smile on his face and was more concerned about others no matter what he was going thru. He was a HERO to the very end.
Last month we were out with our veterans group bowling and I remember how much fun we had and how he didn't want us to worry about him. He could only bowl 1 game but he was there cheering everyone on and living life to the fullest.
This year has been a costly one for AVER,
Miguel, I know you were met at heavens gates by St Peter and all of your veteran brothers who went before with a smart salute and a warm embrace. Be at peace my friend, you will live on in our hearts and not be forgotten.
Sleep in peace my brother.
